Growing up I was nerd. There...I said it....nerd. I was always good at it, especially math. So when I chose a degree in engineering, it just seemed to fit...until I got closer and closer to graduation. I didn't want to sit in a cubicle all day and live my life as they do in office space. I wanted to do my own thing and make a real difference. So I started a restaurant...bad idea, but good experience. And then Movegreen...now that was a good fit. How is being an engineer a good fit for moving? Its all in the logical thinking.
Moving is a learned profession and have great logic skills is imperative to making sure large scale jobs are completed correctly. There must be a plan or the move will fail. So recently when we took on two large school moves, it was up to me to make sure everything went smoothly. Prior to the move there was a basic plan set, then as each day progressed the plan would be revised based on the needs of the school. Even though both moves were complicated and the plan had completely changed from our original, it was the logic and planning that kept the move going smoothly and sometime effortlessly.
Phase 1 of each school has been completed, ahead of schedule, and we are now waiting for the construction to complete so we can complete Phase 2. I will add pictures along with an update once all the schools have been completed.
To be continued...

California ProMover Certified
We are honored to be selected as one of the best and most professional movers. There are many "rogue" movers out that make it difficult for us to do business. They use the internet to obtain potential customer information then they low ball the estimate to entice the customer to commit. Once commited they will require a deposit and once loaded they will hold your items hostage until you pay a price that is much higher than what was quoted.
The lesson here is, make sure you choose a ProMover. The AMSA and CMSA ensure each company passes a background check and agrees to uphold their code of ethics. They take the guesswork out of hiring a moving company.

Should I stay or should I go....?
This is the question we need to ask ourselves at this junction. As our busy season and the end of our current lease approaches we are forced to make a decision. It's not an easy one either. On the one hand we are growing like gangbusters (I've always like that term....gangbusters) and our warehouse is overflowing with supplies and storage clients. On the other hand its all about the math. If we stay we can save. If we go we can grow. So which one do you choose?
Growing would be nice and if we found a new spot we could get military approved and start moving the men and women that defend this country. The extra space would allow us to expand our storage base, offer fulfillment services and give us some much needed extra room for storing our supplies.
But staying could be a good thing too. We could save money...lots of money...and put that toward paying off some debt. Or we could purchase some new equipment, like a new truck or a pack van. Or we could take ourselves on a much needed vacation ( i like this one the best). Whatever we do, we will analyze everything and make sure its the best choice for our long term growth. And we will make sure to include you....our loyal clients and fans! If you have any words of wisdom....write them below.

The United Way Literacy Campaign
Last week we joined forces with Green2Gold and the United Way of Santa Barbara to help put on a free book give-a-way. Although the turn out wasn't what we expected, it was still good to be apart of it. We aided in the transportation of the books as well as physically handing out the books at the event (check out our Flickr photostream on the right-->).
After we wrapped up the event last Friday evening, I began to think about all the good we could do as a company. We already support sustainable business practices and try and buy local, organic and sustainably sources goods when possible, but I was thinking more of helping others out. Its so easy to donate a few hours of our time or a few dollars to local organizations that really need it. So we have made a Doing Good Pledge for 2011. What does this mean? I'm not really sure, but I know I will try and personally make the time to help out when I can. One thing we've been wanting to do is team up with a local organization and put on a golf tournament. This would be great for everyone involved and would bring money and press to the organization we team up with. So if you know of an organization that is looking for help. Have them give us a call! I have been apart of golf tournaments before and they are always fun and everyone really chips in to make it happen. So keep checkin back in. Will keep you up to date on the process!
